The Long Version:
September 25–27, 2026 | Bert Adams Scout Camp
Join Pack 17 for our Fall Family Campout at Bert Adams Scout Camp! All Pack 17 families are welcome, whether you’re experienced campers or this will be your family’s first night in a tent.
Families are welcome to camp Friday and Saturday nights, but all of our planned Pack activities will take place on Saturday. If spending two nights outdoors isn’t for you, no problem! You can arrive Saturday morning, spend the entire day with the Pack, stay through our Saturday evening campfire program, and then head home. Bert Adams is about an hour from Atlanta.
218 Scout Rd, Covington, GA 30016
Bert Adams Scout Camp is owned and operated by the Atlanta Area Council of Scouting America and has been a destination for generations of Atlanta-area Scouts, including summer camp programs.
There’s plenty of room for Cub Scouts to explore and have fun, with wide-open spaces, wooded areas, and a lake. Fishing is a favorite activity, including from the camp’s pedestrian bridges, so families who enjoy fishing may want to bring their gear.
The goal of the weekend is simple: get outside, have fun together, and give our Scouts a great weekend of camping.
Friday, September 25
Families may arrive, set up camp, get settled, and enjoy an informal evening together. There are no formal Pack activities planned for Friday night.
Saturday, September 26
This is our main activity day. Families who aren't camping Friday night are welcome to arrive Saturday morning and join us for the full day. We'll have activities throughout the day, meals together, plenty of time for Scouts to explore, and we'll finish the evening with a traditional Scout campfire program.
Sunday, September 27
We'll have a relaxed morning, break down camp, clean up our campsite, and head home.
Every family staying overnight needs the basic equipment to sleep comfortably and safely outdoors:
Tent — large enough for your family
Sleeping bag for each camper
Sleeping pad for each camper — don't skip this! A sleeping bag alone provides very little insulation or comfort underneath you.
Mess kit for everyone eating Pack meals — plate/bowl, cup, and utensils. We're working to reduce disposable plates, cups, and utensils at Pack events. Here is one the pack recomends.
Reusable water bottle for each person
Rain Gear for each person. Here is one the pack recomends
A folding chair or camp chair for everyone in your family - don't be a hero; be comfortable.
Closed toed shoes - Crocs do not qualify.
Pack 17 will have drinking water available so everyone can refill their bottles throughout the weekend. Staying hydrated is important, particularly while Scouts are running around all day. Families may also want to bring Liquid I.V., Gatorade powder, or another electrolyte drink mix their family enjoys.
In addition to the required items above, plan on bringing weather-appropriate clothing (it will be hot), sturdy closed-toe shoes, rain gear, a flashlight or headlamp, toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent, camp chairs, and any personal medications your family needs.
If you'd like to fish, bring your fishing gear.
Please label your Scout's gear whenever possible. With a whole Pack camping together, identical water bottles, flashlights, jackets, and camp chairs have a remarkable ability to wander off.
You don't need to be an experienced camper or own a garage full of outdoor equipment to participate. Cub Scout camping is designed to help families get comfortable outdoors, and there will be plenty of experienced Pack 17 leaders and parents around to help.
If you're missing equipment, ask your Den Leader before buying it. Another Pack family may have something you can borrow, and our Uniform & Gear Swap may be able to help. If you borrow our buy a new tent before the trip BE SURE TO SET IT UP BEFORE YOU LEAVE to ensure it has all the parts needed to function!
And remember: you don't have to camp overnight to be part of the weekend. Come Saturday morning, spend the day with us, stay for the campfire, and you'll get almost the entire Fall Campout experience.
We hope to see your family at Bert Adams!
