Get ready for liftoff! Pack 17 is heading to the launchpad for one of our most exciting events of the year—Rocket Launch Day!
Join us for an afternoon of rocket launches, outdoor fun, and a little hands-on science as our Cub Scouts send their rockets soaring into the sky.
Whether this is your Scout's first launch or they're a seasoned rocket scientist, it's always a blast watching these creations take flight!
Date: Sunday, November 15, 2026
Times:
Building: 10am Rocket building starts (if you need to build one)
Pack Picnic Lunch: Noon - 1PM
Launching: 1pm - 3PM
Location: Bert Adams Scout Camp
Who: All Pack 17 Scouts and their families
Scouts will have the opportunity to launch their rockets, watch their fellow Scouts' creations take flight, and learn a little about the science of rocketry along the way.
We'll have a designated launch area and adult volunteers helping coordinate launches and keep everyone safe.
Parents and siblings are welcome to join in the fun and cheer on our young rocket scientists!
Bring your completed rocket, ready for launch!
You will likley build your rocket in an upcoming Den meeting. Supplies will be available for last minute builds on launch day but you must arrive early.
Make sure your rocket is assembled and decorated before arriving.
Clearly label your rocket with your Scout's name.
Rocket engines everything needed for launch will be provided by the Pack on Launch Day.
Adult volunteers will help Scouts prepare for launch and supervise the launch area.
Your Scout's completed rocket
A water bottle
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes
A folding chair or picnic blanket for spectators
A little patience—sometimes rocket science requires a second attempt!
Rocket launches depend on safe weather conditions, particularly wind and rain. We'll monitor the forecast and communicate any changes to families before the event.
For everyone's safety, Scouts and spectators must remain outside the designated launch area unless directed by the launch team.
It takes a ground crew to get a rocket into the sky! We're looking for parents to help with setup, launch operations, Scout coordination, and cleanup.
No rocket science degree required—just a willingness to pitch in.
